Dim Sum Today
I am soon going off to Chinatown to have Dim Sum with a friend. I LOVE DIM SUM. I have had it in several places in the world but the place I like it the best is Hong Kong, which is sort of where it all began. Cantonese tea shops began serving dim sum to travelers along the Silk Road and that started the ball rolling.
In Cantonese, Dim Sum is also refered to as YAM CHA ??which means literally “drink tea”. The reason I like Dim Sum in Hong Kong is becuase it’s a bit more relaxing than here in the US. The Chinese really sit and enjoy the tea with a tidbit. We tend to go and chow down! Both are fine though! Can’t wait to be there!
One thing you can do is order a different tea. Ask for “Pu Er Cha” the next time. It’s a smoky, full bodied tea and the waiters will be impressed that you know it. Interestingly enough some Chinese add a little sugar to it, so go for it! Man man chi (chinese for bon appetit!)
