Let’s cobble a Cobbler
As requested, today is Cobbler Day on TLC! Oddly enough, the word cobble or cobbler has a murky and unclear history. The word ‘cobbeler’ is a Middle English word – Chaucer probably used it ::) and meant to repair shoes. ‘To cobble’ as in, ‘I cobbled together a few odds and ends’ is fairly modern and related to the show meaning. But oddly enough again, the food as in Blueberry Cobbler is thought to have come from a Old English word ‘cobeler’ which referred to a wooden bowl. The dish was ‘invented’ by American Colonists who would cobble (haha:)) together a crust reminiscent of the pies and cakes of England.
