The Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl – and my fav – the Sushi Bowl
You always hear about sushi and sashimi and California rolls, but my hands-down favorite Japanese fish experience is ‘Chirashi’. I guess it must have been invented by chefs sick of making roll after roll cuz it’s just a big bowl of seasoned rice, often with black sesames, and topped with a variety of fish – octopus, tuna, shrimp, yellowtail, plus fishcake, egg omelette and the requisite wasabi and pickled ginger.
The word ‘chirashi’ (ちらし寿司 means ‘scattered’ so its preparation was fast and easy! I took the pic on Wednesday lunch in Times Square 🙂
