Word of the Day: Skillet
I always thought that words that began with an SK came from Scandinavia – like sky, skein, skol! 🙂 But skillet seems not to! Ceasar might have used a ‘scutella’ which meant ’round pan’ and it came to French as ‘esculette’ then to English as skillet. Also, many cooking terms came to England with William the Conqueror! Vive la France! 🙂
